“If you’ve followed this page, you’ll know our love for Alpha Steppa, a UK producer with a rich roots reggae heritage who’s injected that into a dubstep framework. Here he teams with Korean producer JahYu, who’s just dropped a hefty single on Monkey Dubs, for a near-perfect fusion of meditative Eastern instrumentation with 21st century sound-system vibration. The killer track here is Alpha Steppa’s relentless remix of ‘Wangbi’, which sounds like Mala in a Taoist temple.”

‘Alpha Steppa Meets JahYu’ is the the latest EP from Steppas, bringing together the very best of East and West roots and dubstep. Produced in Korea, the record features heavy bass working seamlessly with traditional instruments. Oriental flute and string melodies slide effortlessly amongst some powerful roots-based dubstep, creating a sound that is unique and full of flavour. German/ Korean producer JahYu has been heavily influenced by major UK dub artists such as Iration Steppas, Jah Shaka, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry and of course Alpha & Omega, which makes this collaboration a perfect fit.
