This production was made using exclusively Taonga Pūoro (singing treasures), traditional indigenous māori musical instruments of Aotearoa (New Zealand). Created by Taonga Pūoro master Horomona Horo & dub producer Alpha Steppa, the 15-minute piece combines the ethereal sounds of Taonga Pūoro with the spiritual depths of dub. ‘Ipurangi’ is a musical interpretation of a Māori creation story and takes the listener on a journey from Te Kore (the void) to Te Pō (the darkness) through Te Whai Ao into it’s culmination Te Ao Mārama (the world of light).
